How do you measure success on a daily basis? How do you know you are winning in the moment? That the things you are doing right now will get you where you want to be in the future?
Most people I know, even the most successful ones, cannot answer this question succinctly. Often they respond with, “that’s a good question!"
“Helped me thoroughly evaluate important issues and decisions from all sides”
- David Alexander, CEO, Trugreen
“Helped me be clear and consistent”
-Scott Swindler, Chick-Fil-A
“Needed someone to ask the right questions”
-Elian Levatino, Partner, Benchmark Wealth Management
“None have been as effective for me as Bob’s tailored approach”
Mark, Partner, Dixon Hughes Goodman
“Helps us make steady, sustainable change”
- Nancy Knouse, CEO, Benchmark Wealth Management
“Genuinely cares about people”
-Tony Dudek, Vice President, Autozone
“Acted as a conduit between where I was and what I could become”
-Don Kwasigroh, Vice President, FedEx
If your goal is success, this presents a problem in one of three ways:
1) You know your target (goal) but are unintentionally mis-aiming your effort.
A rocket headed to the moon that is one degree off will miss the moon by 4,169 miles (nearly twice the diameter of the moon).
2) You are aiming at nothing.
"If you aim at nothing you’ll hit it every time" - Zig Zigler. And that is also what you will end up with.
3) You are aimed at the wrong thing.
There is nothing worse than climbing a ladder and learning that it's leaning against the wrong wall - John C. Maxwell.
Which one are you most susceptible to? Why?
Nothing is so difficult as not deceiving oneself - Ludwig Wittgenstein
When we are aimed at the wrong thing, mis-aimed at the right thing or aimed at nothing in particular- in any area of our leadership or life, we will eventually experience frustration, anxiety or regret.
In my executive coaching practice I regularly help leaders address these important issues.
Now, in my free resource, Success On Purpose, I have shared a three step exercise to help you gain the clarity you need to achieve the results you desire - in every area of your life.
You will have the opportunity to re-clarify your priorities, identify barriers keeping you from greater success and focus your time and energy more effectively.
